Time to deck the halls

In last month’s edition, I expressed in this space my enthusiasm about diving headfirst into the festivities of Christmas immediately following Halloween.

Although I feel absolutely no shame, I realize that for some, that’s a fighting philosophy. One simply mustn’t prematurely get themselves wrapped up in the merriment of the holiday season.

Well, it’s Dec. 6. For those who opt to hold off, this issue is unabashedly about decking the halls, raising a festive glass and counting down the days until the new year.

Three of the best in the business when it comes to decking the halls are featured on this month’s cover. Sisters and business partners Raechelle Ahmed, Lisa Parr and Alana Rapp,

co-owners of Vignettes in Dubuque and Galena, Ill., share the story behind their family-owned business that recently marked its 20th year.

Also featured are an assortment of Christmas cocktails from local establishments

— perfect if you’re planning to enjoy a festive night out with your best gals.

We also offer a look at how to stay fashionable and warm throughout the winter, as well as how to keep time management — and your peace of mind — at the forefront during the busiest time of year, with tips for hosting holiday guests, meal prep ahead of time, home decor, gift ideas and more.

From all of us at Her magazine, the merriest!
